Today I had the chance to teach a small workshop on building a website to a few students and friends. As you can see in the pics, they seemed to be enjoying it. They even left with websites in process and plans to continue to work on them. As they get finished you can find links to them on my "Contacts" page.
It was interesting talking to them about the importance of having a website that reflected who they were as artists but also as people. Using the website as a way to reach out to folks and show off their fabulous work was obviously an apparent goal but watching them make the connections between showing off their work and letting people get to know who they are as people was a lot of fun. They were a great group of folks and I can't wait to show off their websites to you.
This workshop was done as a part of a series of workshops that I have instituted set up for our VPA majors but open to anyone who wants to learn these specific skills. I will be running these workshops every semester and maybe even over the summer. Stay tuned for the schedule. There will be a link to it from my home page soon.
Thanks to all who came out even with another snow storm on the way.

This morning started out with Drawing 1. I have an interesting group of folks in this class from average age college kids to elder learners who are simply there for the pure enjoyment of learning. They are all truly fabulous. I have enjoyed this group so far. They are genuine in their desire to learn and focused in their efforts. Their work shows their drive as well. Today was the first day they attempted shading a still life and I was pleasantly surprised by the results. As always I wish I had more time with them. I only get them for 2.5 hours a week but in that small amount of time they make great progress! |
Last night was all about a night out at the Theatre! The VPA department put on an all student done play called "Boom" It was hilarious! Major kudos to all the students who worked so hard to bring it together. I admit that I wasn't all that keen on going out after having such a long day in the studio but at the last minute I decided that I would after taking into account that we are supposed to get a nasty storm coming through this weekend meaning that I wouldn't be able to see the play on Sunday. So, at 7:30 pm I drag myself out of my comfy chair and head out to the theater where I spent the next 2 hours laughing my butt off! The acting was wonderful, the sets were perfect and the story was just a delight. I am glad I went out and highly recommend the show to anyone who wants to have a good time at the theater! The picture was my view of the set before the play started. There was a great turn out and everyone had a great time! |
