Biography
To talk about myself, I have to talk about the people who had a hand in making me who I am today. I was a lucky kid with family, immediate and extended who loved and cared for me, stepping in when there was need and seeing me through to my adulthood. I got my creative spirit from them, learned to love, laugh and appreciate life and I am pretty sure I got my fashion sense from them though I don't think they will own up to it!
I was born in the Midwest, spending my early years with my Mother and Grandmother. When I was nine I was lucky enough to find a home with my Aunt and Uncle and their kids (plus two cousins from another part of the family) It took a village to raise me but eventually I made it through school and on to undergraduate and graduate school where I earned a BFA and an MFA in Fine Art.
Taking my passion for art and my love of teaching, I was able to begin teaching while still doing my graduate work. That led to an adjunct position which led to a Faculty position. Now I am an Art Professor lucky enough to teach in a department that encompasses all the arts with a new major and dynamic students. I get the chance to continue to create my own work, showing every chance I get and to pass on my passion and knowledge to artist who are just beginning their creative adventures. I couldn't ask for anything better and I have my family to thank for every single bit of it.
